About the 4H Forestry Manual
The 4-H Forestry Manual provides students with hands-on learning experiences about forest ecosystems, management practices, and the importance of conservation. Through a series of lessons and activities, students gain skills in tree identification, tree parts and function, tree lifecycles, tree selection, tree care, and tree planting. They also learn about the ecological role of forests, their environmental significance, and how to responsibly manage natural resources. Completing these lessons equips students with knowledge about forestry that promotes environmental stewardship and an appreciation for the critical role forests play in our ecosystem.
Design Contributions
For this project, I collaborated with Nebraska Extension experts to modernize the 4-H Forestry Level 1 Curriculum, which hadn't seen updates in over 20 years. The refreshed guide is now much more visually appealing and engaging for youth, making forestry concepts more accessible. Additionally, the curriculum reflects current forestry practices, ensuring that it provides relevant and up-to-date information. The new version offers a dynamic and interactive approach to learning, aligning better with today's educational standards and the needs of young learners.
