Harvest of the Month

About the Program
In partnership with Nebraska Extension and the Nebraska Department of Education, the Nebraska Harvest of the Month Program is a statewide farm to school program that features a different Nebraska specialty crop each month of the school year. The program promotes local sourcing of fruits and vegetables, and provides schools with resources to support sampling and serving local foods to students. Schools have the opportunity to expand Nebraska students’ palates and increase student interest in healthy foods, nutrition and agriculture by participating.
Design Contributions
Since the beginning of the Nebraska Harvest of the Month program in 2018, I have played a key role in its design. I began by creating the Nebraska Farm to School and Harvest of the Month logos, which laid the foundation for the program's branding. My unique watercolor illustrations of locally grown and raised goods are central to this identity, appearing throughout the Harvest of the Month toolkit on materials such as posters, stickers, trivia cards, coloring pages, and seasonality charts. In addition, I have developed comprehensive communication guides, recipe guides, and taste test guides. Most recently, I completed twelve extensive activity guides for early childhood educators, each spanning over 30 pages.
All of my work and contributions can be found on the Nebraska Department of Education's Harvest of the Month webpage: education.ne.gov/ns/farm-to-school/harvest-of-the-month
